Polar bears depend on sea ice to hunt seals and a pace tp breed. In the last 20 years ice has been melting rapidly because of climate change. Polar Bears must travel long distances to find enough ice to hunt and breed. Most of the time Polar Bears come to the shore and wait till ice has rebuilt before they go back out to hunt. In this time the Bears must rely on their stored body fat. In Southern areas, they ice takes longer to rebuild, in these places some bears die of starvation or suffer from malnutrition.
